Sports Director
Application Deadline: April 7, 2025Job Title: Sports Director Reports to: Recreation Commission Director Position Summary: Under the direction of the Augusta Recreation Commission Director, the Sports Director is responsible for development, planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising community and recreation programs. This position will supervise part-time staff and volunteers. They will develop partnerships with administrators from Augusta-USD 402, the City of Augusta, and other community groups/organizations to provide a variety of programs that enhance the community. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal right to work in the United States. • Must be 18 years of age or older. Education: • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation administration or related field and/or related experience. Duties and Responsibilities: • Responsible for organizing, scheduling facilities, and all aspects of sports programs for youth and adult participants. • Ability to train coaches, officials, scorekeepers, and site supervisors. • Ability to officiate when necessary. • Ability to work independently and without direct supervision. • Ability to work with patrons and staff and exercise good judgment when interacting with people. • Physically capable of performing duties, walking, running, lifting up to 50 lbs., and any other physical work that may need to be done. • A good understanding of computers: word, excel, publisher, and internet use. • Ability to write letters, make fliers, and basic bookkeeping duties. • Inform Recreation Commission Director of daily operational needs, problems, and player/parent feedback. • Ability to follow budgetary guidelines and all financial responsibilities associated with the sports programs. • Responsible for sports staff time sheets. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation Commission Director. Certifications: • CPR and First Aid certified, or the willingness to obtain certification upon employment. • Must have a valid driver’s license. Hours: This position will require some evenings and weekends. Normal business hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 5:00pm. Hours will be adjusted as not to overload the individual. Pay Scale: $40,000 - $50,000 DOE
